A DOG with an unusually long tongue is the newest sponsor dog at the National Canine Defence League in Evesham.
Charlie, a seven-year-old Collie cross, was brought to the centre after his owners could no longer care for him.
He is the charity's newest sponsor dog, and people have been sponsoring him £1 a week to pay for his food and bedding at the Rehoming Centre, in Wickhamford.
"We don't know how long his tongue is but people do occasionally comment about the length of it," said Cath Archer-Smith, a canine carer at Evesham's NCDL.
"When he's let off the lead and he's tired, you can see it.
"He's a lovely dog and very energetic - he's settled down here well.
"We're still looking for a home for him but he's a special dog that's very energetic."
People who wish to donate £1 a week to the charity will help provide food, bedding, affection and veterinary care for Charlie.
In return, sponsors not only receive regular news in the form of letters, Valentine and Christmas cards, but also a lapel pin, a certificate and regular copies of the NCDL's magazine Wag!
Charlie, who was brought to the centre last July, likes to receive special treats his sponsors may wish to send him.
