SHOPPERS in Worcester city centre looked on with surprise as a giant caterpillar crawled down the High Street.
Fortunately, it was not an invasion of giant insects, but a parade on Saturday to mark the end of the Rubbish? Sort It campaign.
People of all ages marched to the beat of drums to celebrate the month-long scheme, which was organised by the city council and the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust - a charity promoting the environment.
The aim of the campaign was to increase the public's awareness about the problems of litter and to encourage more people to recycle.
The caterpillar was made by schoolchildren during workshops held over the past month, which also saw more than 1,500 people and 45 schools take part in litter picking, recycling workshops, poster competitions and a fashion show.
The fashion show was held in St Andrew's Church Hall, on Pump Street, with designs created by children entirely from recycled material.
