THE miserable weather that has plagued the start of the cricket season caused havoc to Worcester's Birmingham League programme on Saturday.
The firsts travelled to Water Orton, and, after five interruptions due to rain the game was eventually abandoned.
Before that point Worcester had done well to progress to 162 -2 off 42.2 overs and were in a sound position.
Main contributors were Adam Binks with 27, Worcestershire academy player Daryl Mitchell with an accomplished 84 not out, and South African Murray Ranger with 29 not out.
However, with rain returning again umpires Colin Massey and Malcolm Davis decided that enough was enough and abandoned play for the day. Worcester took six points to Water Orton's four.
At the Gordon Jones Memorial Ground, the seconds batted well on a good surface to make 218 - 9 in their 50 overs.
The Innings was boosted by a stylish 69 from Danny Walker and an equally good 46 from Paul Symmonds.
The latter order, however, lost their way slightly and Worcester fell from 184-2 to 218-9, at the end of their innings.
Richard Biddle bowled particularly well to claim 6-79 for the visitors. Just as play was about to restart after tea a terrific storm hit the ground and play was abandoned for the day.
Worcester seconds took seven points to Redditch's seven.
Worcester's third XI game in the Worcestershire County League at Feckenham was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
