NOT only can Brian Hunt not add up, he needs a dictionary as well (You Say, Thursday, May 15).

The Tories don't have overall control of the city council - they have 18 seats. This means the Mayor has a casting vote to push through their policies.

The reason is simple. At the council meeting on Tuesday night, the Tory leader and deputy leader were voted for by the Independents.

The Tory Cabinet was voted in by the Independents. The Tory mayor and deputy mayor were voted in by the Independents.

Now, to the dictionary. Independent?
