Green, keen villagers from Wychavon were happy to get their hands dirty as part of a massive clean-up operation in the district.
Tidy-minded residents from many parish councils in the area including, Wychbold, Doverdale, Tibberton, Hanbury, Dodderhill and Elm Lovitt took part in the project organised by Wychavon District Council between March and April.
The council, who offered £500 to the first 40 parishes who came forward also provided litter pickers, gloves, bags and tabards to help the eco-friendly volunteers.
Wychavon's client services officer Ray Grundy, who inspected the villages taking part, said: "I can't give the volunteers enough praise.
"People of all ages came out to tidy up and many of the groups said how much they had enjoyed it-it was like a proper village social occasion."
Chairman of Dodderhill parish council decided to reward the residents for their efforts and use the rest of the cash to improve and increase the number of bins in Wychbold.
Ray added: "Not only does the bursary scheme encourage people to help keep the District clean and tidy but the cash helps boost the coffers of community groups and organisations."
