THREE daring men who plan to dress up as testicles for a cancer fun run are urging people to help them in their quest for costumes.

Fitness instructors Andy Portman and Gary Lock, of Pro-Fitness gym, will be running the men- only Mencan 2003, with Scott Vernon who trains at the Worcester centre.

The men want to dress up as a pair of testicles each for the race but, so far, the runners have said they have failed in finding a suitable costume.

The event, which aims to raise money for Cancer Research UK's work into testicular cancer, takes place on Sunday, July 27, at 2pm at Nunnery Wood Sports Centre.

"It's a good idea because testicular cancer is not well known or talked about," Mr Portman, of Claines, said.

Michael Skilbeck who is organising the race, said more than 300 people had enquired about the event.

"One guy is doing a big pub crawl for testicular cancer on the day," said the 22-year-old from Warndon Villages, Worcester.

"There will be a competition for best fancy dress and best team name.

"We've got the a dogs competition called Scruffies on the day where people can enter any pet dogs they have."

Mr Skilbeck was inspired to stage the event by his stepfather who survived the disease 10 years ago.

Anyone that wants to donate a testicle costume or make a testicle suit for Mr Portman and his team, should call him on 01905 731028.

Anyone who wishes to take part in the run will be charged a £4 entry fee, and should call Mr Skilbeck on 07958 688274.
