The son of former England goalkeeping legend Peter spent two seasons at Hartlepool before his free transfer move to Third Division opposition Harriers.
An attacking midfielder who also filled in at wing-back, he moved from Plymouth Argyle to Coventry as a teenager for £125,000.
With seven Premiership appearances under his belt, the Nottingham-born left-footer was released and ended up in the north-east.
Shilton, who is capable of beating his man and getting in a good cross, was brought in to give Harriers balance and started last season on the left-hand side of midfield.
But he soon lost his place under Jan Molby and must look to impress Ian Britton this season in the final year of his contract.
League appearances/goals: Plymouth (94/95) 2, (95/96) 1, Cov-entry (97/98) 2, (98/99) 5, Hartlepool (99/00) 21/3, (00/01) 33/4, Harriers (01/02) 24.
This season: 44 games, 3 substitute appearances, 6 goals.
Status: First-choice left midfield. Out of contract in the summer. Offered a new one-year deal.
Average Shuttle rating: 6.5 (3 star man awards)
