MOTORISTS must make sure their cars and vans are locked, police have warned after opportunist thieves struck in Wychbold.

Thieves stole a whacker plate, a tool for flattening the ground, valued at £600 from a silver and grey LDV van.

The van had been left unlocked overnight between Sunday, May 18, and Monday, May 19, at a house in Worcester Road in Wychbold near Droitwich.

"We are appealing to people to be aware of opportunist thieves," said WPC Ally Kingdon.

"Always ensure your vehicle is locked when left unattended and where possible never leave tools in the vehicle over night.

"Van owners should also consider where they park their vehicles.

"If you have a garage, then please use it and always make sure that you lock you vehicle and the garage door.

"If you don't have a garage, then always try and park in a well-lit place."

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact police on 08457 444888, quoting 162C/190503, or call Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
