ASTWOOD Bank star Andy Tinsley's flying start to the National Superstocks Series came shuddering to a halt with his first DNF of the season.

The Tin Man has never enjoyed the best of luck on the Scottish track but said he was looking forward to Round Six after a good outing north of the border last year.

Tinsley's race came to an abrupt end in the 18th lap of the 26 lap race when his intermediate tyres finally let him down after a mid-race rainstorm.

The weekend had started positively enough with Tinsley missing most of qualifying before securing fourth place on the grid on his spare bike and recording the fastest times in a wet second session.

With nearest championship rivals Jamie Morley and Matt Llewellyn also coming off the damage was limited in terms of the leaderboard but Tinsley regarded it as an opportunity lost.

Tinsley is fourth in the table with 66 points, 20 behind Llewellyn.
