Four star

FILMAKER Michael Moore hits home with a stunning documentary feature exploiting the gun laws of his own beloved America.

The film, based around the high school massacre in 1999 where two teenagers shot and killed 13 people before taking their own lives, searches for answers to why there are more than 10,000 gun related deaths in America every year.

Is it because of America's bloody 'cowboys and Indians' history? Non-existent gun laws? Or could it be, as many think, Marilyn Manson?

Everyone has an opinion from head of the National Rifle Association, Charlton Heston, to a couple of redneck kids who knew the Columbine killers.

The Oscar winner is genius and Moore uses his subtle approach to let Americans speak for themselves about the issue, which largely means they embarrass themselves to comical effect.

A perfect example is when Moore visits a bank which is giving away a free gun to everyone who opens an account. The bank clerk hands a gun over - fully loaded - before he leaves.

It's one of those movies where you don't know whether to laugh or cry, but it's a must see.
