DEAR EDITOR -- As a local employer I was also surprised at the reaction of schools to the collection of Cadbury wrappers for sports equipment.
Most schools collected supermarket vouchers for equipment. Why is it a crime now to pick up old chocolate wrappers? It doesn't mean you have to increase your consumption of chocolate and encourage obesity in kids - just don't throw the wrappers in the bin!
This is all part of a trend in industry nowadays for cause-related marketing, which shows corporate social responsibility.
We even ran our own computers for schools campaign - because we believe in giving something back to the community.
