THE recent resurgence of interest in Bromsgrove's ancient Court Leet was demonstrated at its annual spring court when a record five new jurymen were sworn in. It prompted senior member and past Bailiff Mr W Weaver to remark he had never known so many. The current Bailiff Ray Neale welcomed the court's new Chaplain, St John's vicar the Rev Peter Larkin.
THE secretary of Bromsgrove and Redditch Community Health Council, Brian Thomas had landed himself in hot water with members over his outspoken remarks regarding people being treated on the NHS for "self inflicted" illnesses such as obesity and alcoholism.
BROMSGROVE was to get its own skateboard rink despite an apparent fall-off of interest in the craze locally. £3,000 from the town's new lottery would be spent on purchasing rubber conveyor belt-type material to make a 200ft-long surface on a slope in Sanders Park near the allotments.
BROMSGROVE'S two international swimmers Karen Hinxman and Claire Sanders had been chosen to open the town's Sport for All event to be held in Sanders Park in the summer. The organisers wanted home grown talent to perform the duty.
