PROUD garden fanatics are being urged to grab a spade, don their gardening gloves and show off their floral creations in time for this year's Droitwich Spa in Bloom competition.
The event, now in it's 15th year, is organised by Droitwich Spa Town Council and, according to a spokesman, is aimed at promoting the excellent community spirit within the town.
The authority will be sponsoring prizes for a number of the competitions and there will also be a children's painting competition.
This year' s categories are:
- Best kept garden (large and small)
- Best hanging basket (domestic or commercial)
- Best community floral display
- Best school floral display
- Best floral display (public building/ industrial estate)
- Best community floral display by a retirement home or sheltered accommodation
Volunteers are also being sought for the Droitwich Spa in Bloom Campaign Working Party committee and the town council is urging commercial organisations to contact them if they want to sponsor a flower bed.
Recently elected chairman of the Droitwich Spa in Bloom Campaign Working Party committee, Barry Nicholson, said: "Spa residents should not be shy in coming forward. We need as many people as possible to enter to impress the judges, so come and get your entry forms now."
The judging will take place from Monday, June 23, to Sunday, July 6, and winners of each category will receive a prize.
To enter, pick up an entry form from the town clerk's office, St Richard's House, Victoria Square, Droitwich Spa.
They must be returned by Friday, June 6. Alternatively call 01905 774258.
