A MAN was threatened at knifepoint at a cashpoint outside Safeway on Sunday.
The 25-year-old parked near the cash machines and noticed another man was using one of them, who then left in a blue car.
The man withdrew £10 and as he was about to return to his car, came face to face with the attacker, who demanded the cash and showed him a knife he was holding.
The man managed to escape and ran towards the store, where he called police.
Another person came to use the cash machines and the would-be robber walked off towards the loading bay and nearby wooded area.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 10.10pm.
The knifeman was white, aged 18-23, about 5ft 11ins tall and of slim build.
He had brown, close-set eyes and stubble and was wearing a dark blue baseball cap, dark blue zip-up thigh-length padded jacket, dark trousers and dark trainers.
