CUSTODY procedures at Blakenhurst Prison are to be reviewed after a prisoner was found hanged just six weeks after two other men were discovered hanging in their cells.
Ian Thomas Price, 24, from the West Midlands area, was found hanging from a bed frame in the health care unit of the prison by staff at 12.20am last Tuesday.
Staff tried to resuscitate him and called paramedics and a doctor who took him to the Alexandra Hospital.
He was transferred to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham, where he died just before 2pm.
Mr Price had been given a two-year, one month sentence for taking a vehicle without consent and causing criminal damage.
In the last year, there have been five deaths at the prison.
Last month, prisoner Steven Wilson - who was given two life sentences for the murder of his sons - was found hanged, and soon after remand prisoner Rajwinder Singh Mutti was also found hanged.
