THE hammer proved mightier than the sword after a hugely successful auction raised pots of cash for a Headless Cross church.
About 200 items including pottery and porcelain, garden tools and furniture, came under the hammer of auctioneer Frank Langley at St Luke's Church.
Among the items was a rare boxed set of Babycham glasses, which were auctioned on behalf of the neighbouring Methodist Church Rebuilding Fund.
A total of £1,050 was made from the sale, which will go towards the general maintenance and running costs of St Luke's.
Organisers would like to thank everyone who supported the auction.
