MORE misery is on the way for Wythall bus users after it was revealed contracts for the 175 service through the village are to be terminated.

In the latest bus bulletin released by Worcestershire County Council, the 175 service from Redditch to Wythall to Birmingham run by Travel West Midlands (TWM) will be axed from Sunday, June 29.

TWM told the council the termination was due to staffing difficulties.

The county council has said it will be inviting tenders for a replacement - but fears the new prices will be more than the old, even allowing for inflation.

It was not clear what level of replacement service it would be able to afford.

To add to the cut, two isolated TWM journeys on the 179 service from Birmingham to Redditch via Wythall on Mondays and Fridays look set for the chop.

The council said it may not be possible to fund replacements for the 06.30 Kings Heath to Redditch and the 18.25 Redditch to Maypole services but surveys are continuing and tenders are again being invited.

The news comes a week after the 178 service from Redditch to Birmingham via Wythall, due to be axed by Pete's Travel on May 26, was saved by Henley coach firm Johnson's.
