I WAS very pleased when I found out a zebra crossing was to be installed in Beoley village to help children and parents cross safely to and from the school and nursery.

It has now been in place for some months and I am amazed at the number of blind motorists driving through the village who cannot see it. Well, I assume they are blind or are they simply ignorant?

I have stood waiting to cross with my daughter many times and counted the number of cars that ignore us and just simply drive through without stopping for us.

This happens all the time to many children and parents.

How are we supposed to teach our children about crossing the road? If we tell them drivers will stop at the zebra crossing to let them cross, maybe they will step out unwittingly and be knocked down.

Cars are still travelling through the village too fast despite the flashing speed signs. It seems the whole area is simply an accident waiting to happen.

To the drivers who kindly slow down and stop, thank you. To those drivers who simply can't be bothered, please spare a couple of seconds and let us cross.

Who knows, it could save a child's life.
