AN 83-year-old Alcester woman was conned out of £40, bank cards and four rings by a woman pretending to be an old friend.
The middle-aged woman pushed her way into the pensioner's home in Priory Road at about 11.30am on Thursday and even offered to peel some potatoes for her.
But the woman soon left after about five minutes when the elderly woman said her husband would be home soon.
After she had gone, the elderly woman discovered her brown purse, which contained the cash, cards and the rings, was missing.
The woman was described as sun-tanned, in her mid 40s, with black shoulder length hair, of slim build and about 5ft 5ins tall.
Police said she walked off towards the town and believe she may have joined another woman as the pair were later seen near Alcester Grammar School.
Police are appealing for information and witnesses to call Alcester CID on 01926 415000 ext 4870 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
