THANKS to Colin Wheeler for his photo of the once very popular Redditch Charity Jazz Band, but the write-up for it was not quite correct.
The Band's uniform changed from blue to red, not the other way about as stated.
I played in it twice in the early 1950s when I believe the band disbanded. 'Dol' Fox, from Studley, took over the band in that period. She could play kazoo and drums. Her son or brother Colin was the big bass drum player.
Other solo drummers of the period were Dennis (Divvy) Deaves, Eddie Lassiter and George Ferris on tenor drum.
I resigned as the style of drumming was not as I was used to.
