AT the May meeting, members were fascinated by a talk by Ralph Richardson on 'The Campden Wonder', the events of which took place between 1660 -1662.
Viscount Campden died in 1660, leaving Lady Campden, whose steward William Harrison was the subject of the mystery.
Sir Thomas Overbury JP was called in to examine the case and wrote his account in 1676.
William Harrison went missing while collecting rents and John Perry, his servant, went looking for him, returning without him with conflicting reports on Harrison's death.
Perry, his mother and brother were eventually found guilty of his murder and were executed on Broadway Hill.
Fifteen months later, Harrison returned, with the story he had been kidnapped and taken to Turkey as a slave. He eventually escaped and returned home, becoming a steward again.
There will be an outing to the Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans, on August 14, and a fashion shop on September 18.
The next meeting is on Thursday, June 12, when Mr Winterburn will talk on Cotswold Curiosities.
