A YOUTH team from a Worcester council estate took on West Mercia police's finest in a friendly but competitively fought football match.
Ronkswood beat manager, PC Liz Northcott, decided to arrange the game for a sporting challenge, to pit bored teenagers against the boys in blue.
PC Northcott, with the help of DC Ray Williams, made a few phone calls to the estate's community centre, which already has two youth teams successfully up and running.
A team of budding Beckhams, aged between 14 and 18, were more than willing to "take on" the police and were transported to police headquarters at Hindlip for the fun match yesterday evening.
The full 11-a-side match saw the police race into a 4-1 lead, but the Ronkswood boys clawed it back to earn a high-scoring 4-4 draw at the end of 90 minutes.
"It was a really good atmosphere played in a good competitive spirit and hopefully we can have it as an annual event in the future," said PC Northcott.
