MORE than 190 letters have been sent to Worcester City Council opposing Tesco's plans for a new store in St John's.
The planning department has received a total of 194 letters about the application - 191 of those are from objectors.
Principal planning officer Peter Yates said the department had received a similar number of letters from people opposing Sainsbury's application.
The planning application for a 35,750sq ft store, with a 399-space car park, on the site of Christopher Whitehead School is expected to go before the planning committee on Thursday, June 12.
A spokesman for Tesco said: "We will look at these comments on their merits and address any issues in due course."
The plans also include a petrol filling station, land for housing and a new link road between Bromwich Road and Malvern Road, designed to minimise the traffic impact on St John's district centre.
