A REGULAR tidy up could be on the cards for St Peter's parish after complaints about the amount of litter in the area.
Members of the public and the parish council aired their views on litter at the annual parish council meeting.
"As a new resident I am delighted to live here but the one thing that bothers us is the mountains of litter everywhere", said Paul Snookes a resident of Admiral Place.
"We walk through the walkways to Tesco and there is tons of litter there."
Sally Mills, of Raven Drive, said she was constantly picking up empty sandwich and pasta packaging near to her home, plus litter in her garden.
"By the time people have driven out of Tesco car park and to our house they think it says dustbin," she said.
"We try and make our garden look nice, not just for us but for other people."
Craig Mills, a member of the council suggested naming and shaming litter bugs, but parish chairman Roger Knight said people would not name culprits for fear of repercussions.
A parish litter pick in late April with the Duckworth Worcestershire Trust inspired council member David Edgerton to sign up with the trust for a weekly litter pick from the Timberdine area to The Ketch and Broomhall Way, St Peter's.
The trust, which supports clean-ups in Worcester offers litter pickers litter bags and gloves for clean-ups.
Mr Knight said the way for parish members to tackle the litter problem was to educate the young and to go out into the community and clean up themselves.
Mr Knight suggested that Wendy Roberts, parish officer, got in touch with the trust to organise regular litter picks in the warmer months.
