HEAVEN preserve us from Durcott Lodge ending up as Nabarro House.

My memories of him are of a rather bumptious, publicity seeking, car fanatic, wealthy enough to have cornered the market in NAB car number plates, and who became the laughing stock of the Vale through his insistence that a woman companion - not him of course - was driving one of his beloved cars, (NAB 1, 2 or 3, I can't remember which) when reported to have broken a traffic regulation.

How about Mckenzie House? Aronwen Mckenzie had worked conscientiously and efficiently, with little fanfare, for at least two decades before her recent retirement. There has to be legions of the elderly with good cause to be grateful for the efforts of her and staff over those years. What a great way to celebrate her achievements! She probably did more useful work for local old people, in one afternoon's work at the Volunteer Centre, than Gerald the Nab could have managed throughout his whole career in parliament!
