A ONCE-In-A-Lifetime chance to star in an RSC play is being offered to 30 lucky local people.
The RSC Bootcamp 2003 is looking for actors and backstage volunteers to work with its own experts to produce a play from scratch in just eight days.
The project follows on from a successful trial last year with Warwick University students.
Fiona Lindsay, from the RSC Education and Events department running the scheme, explained: "Last year's Bootcamp was such a success that we thought we should open it up to anyone from the area who would like to get involved.
"We're going to be performing a play called Thyestes by Seneca, which has strong links with one of this year's RSC plays, Titus Andronicus. It's going to be directed by Rebecca Gatwood, a really exciting director."
She added: "After the information meetings, we'll whittle down the numbers through auditions and interviews. Those who make it through to the final eight-day rehearsal period can expect a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
The first step is to attend one of three public information meetings being held for anyone interested. They will all be held on June 1 between 3pm and 4.30pm at: Stratford - The Swan Theatre. Evesham - Town Hall. Coventry - Belgrade Theatre.
There will then be a series of auditions and interviews which will culminate in an intensive rehearsal period from October 26 to November 2, followed by performances at The Other Place from November 2 to 5.
For information about the Bootcamp contact Peter Coombs, RSC Community Liaison Manager on 01789 272441.
The RSC has also announced it will be continuing with its discounted theatre ticket scheme for Stratford district residents. Anyone in the Stratford District Council area can get a reduced priced ticket to certain performances on a Monday to Wednesday evening. Ticket hotline: 0870 6091110 or visit www.rsc.org.uk.
