CYCLING: Stourport cycling ace Liam Preece was crowned British Schools' national U-16s time trial champion on Sunday after a thrilling race at Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire.
In windy conditions, the Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club member powered around the 2.5 laps of the four-mile circuit of the airfield.
Preece completed the 10 miles in 24 minutes 45 seconds, beating second-placed Scott Elliot by just one second.
The best 30 junior riders from around the country took part and it is the first time a Wyre Forest member has become a national time trial champion.
