VOLLEYBALL: Cleobury Mortimer's women were unable to find their blistering form in the West Midlands Cup final and lost 3-1 to Tettenhall in a tight clash.
League champions Cleobury had previously knocked out title rivals Birmingham University 3-2 in the semi-finals with Ellie White player-of-the-day.
But the villagers looked nervy in the first set against a young and talented Tettenhall at a neutral venue in Birmingham.
They were unable to turn defence into attack and then their rhythm was further disrupted by a controversial refereeing decision as they lost the first set 25-17.
However, they levelled the match 25-20 with skipper Katherine Skelhorn and Lou Rochelle serving well, assisted by consecutive kills from Sam Harding.
In a thrilling third set, the teams traded points but Tettenhall upped their work-rate and took the set 26-24 despite Lucy Nash's controlled serving.
Player-of-the-day Jess Hinwood showed her more experienced peers up in the fourth set, while setter Becky Brookes continued to give her all.
But Cleobury were never able to match Tettenhall's teamwork and they lost the final set 25-22.
