JUDO: There was triple gold for the Samurai Judo Club at the Lincolnshire Minimon as nine boys returned with six medals.
Wesley Connor, Alex Dowling and Matthew Lowe went home with golds after impressive displays.
Steven Wagstaff was first to fight in the lightest category but finished fifth despite a good early victory.
In the next section, Connor carved up the opposition and four excellent wins booked him a semi-final place with club-mate Jack Roberts.
Connor beat his less experienced but promising opponent, who hit back to earn a deserved bronze.
In a good final against a tough Lincolnshire opponent, the Samurai boy was always in control and was a worthy gold medallist.
Dowling took the next weight category with five good wins, including a final victory in possibly the best match of the day.
He attacked with a wide variety of throws and kept up the barrage to eventually secure a groundhold.
Edward Connor managed a good win in the same group, while Andrew Edlin was unlucky to lose a close quarter-final.
Michael Edlin looked set to make it three golds in a higher weight category with five strong wins.
But in the final M Edlin conceded a dubious score and was unable to equalise despite dominating.
Ryan Pitcock and Lowe reached the middleweight final after some great maximum-point throws.
They contested another close clash but Pitcock, who often has the edge, was soon two scores up.
However, he made one slight mistake and Lowe pounced for his first competitive gold medal.
Meanwhile, the Cockburn Cup, the annual memorial event for Mark Cockburn, is on Saturday, May 31.
The judo player, who died in a motor accident in 1989 aged 21, was a founder member of Samurai as well as being with the Bewdley and Stourport clubs.
