LIKE many readers, with regard to the county education review, I am astounded at the proposals recently revealed by our representatives at County Hall, and especially the audacious attempt to close our beloved St Barnabas School.
A meeting was held on May 13 at St Barnabas Church, and it was heartening to see so many concerned parents and councillors, both past and present, who are not prepared to take this lying down and will fight hard to keep our village school.
St Barnabas Church of England First School is the hub of our community at Franche and the loss would be devastating.
Sybil Watson and her school need help from everyone.
Please contact the school to find out more, or attend the school fete on June 7 to have a good time and lend your support.
We will need a massive community effort to defeat these proposals.
