REFERRING to C Jones's letter in last week's Shuttle/Times & News, while not wishing to enter into a war of words, does he not realise that apart from being a football club, Kidderminster Harriers are also a business.
If not run accordingly, they would cease to exist. The new admission price increases are a necessary, modest increase to say the least and essential for the future stability of the club.
If Mr Jones cared to research the funding of the new stand, he would soon find a large per cent of the cost is from a Football Stadia Improvement Fund grant and not from supporters' pockets.
In any event, such funding could not have been used for paying staff salaries.
Developments of this nature are commonly known in business as progress and forward-planning.
This magnificent stand will not only provide comfortable seating but new catering facilities, safer entrances, etc.
It is also required by the FA under laws governing Football League clubs' ground improvements.
Had Mr Jones travelled to as many away games as myself, he would be aware of the high standard of grounds at our other Division Three clubs such as Hull, Rochdale and Oxford to name but a few. Not all these grounds are full to capacity week-in-week-out.
How proud we all were a few months ago when Harriers hosted two youth internationals generating capacity crowds.
Just think how much better this would have been with our magnificent new stand in place then.
There are many extremely dedicated personnel at Harriers who all do a brilliant job under considerable pressure with very limited resources.
So, let us not continue to criticise our fantastic football club and get behind our team next season. Let us pack this fabulous new stand to capacity.
Very well done to the management, players, board and backroom staff at Harriers. Thank you all for providing us with a great season's entertainment.
