UNIVERSITY College Worcester prospectuses have been put to a new use by a final year student.
Nicky Hall, a part-time art and design student, has made a sculpture kiln in the grounds of the college using brick clay and UCW prospectuses.
"I've always been interested in ceramics and sculpture and this seemed to be an ideal way to finish my studies," she said.
"More than 20 people came and helped me to construct the kiln, which we will leave in place as a sculpture here.
"I had always wanted to take on a large-scale work and this has been extremely challenging.
"My fellow students will come along again next week for the firing, which we will do with salvaged wood, and I am encouraging them to bring along small items to fire as mementoes of their time as students at UCW - things like clay pendants, tiles and small models."
Nicky has been studying for five years and hopes to graduate from UCW this year.
"This is a very interesting project," said Pippa Galpin, Nicky's art and design tutor.
"All of the materials are recycled. Our theme has been 'Inspired for Life' and it is interesting that the students have taken this on board and that Nicky has used her module to celebrate student life and to inspire this group event.
"Everyone has enjoyed it a lot."
There will be a final year degree show from the course at the Arts House Caf, in the Countess of Huntingdon Hall, in the CrownGate, Worcester, from Monday, June 23 to Friday, August 29, when it is hoped some of the items from the kiln will be on show.
