THE leader of Staunton & District Over 60s Club, Nan Bevan, would like to welcome more members from the Hartpury and Maisemore area to the club. Transport is no problem as a minibus runs at a subsidised rate of £1 return so she urges over 60s to come along where you can make new friends and meet old ones and enjoy the benefits of summer. Her number is (01452) 840640.
The trip to Hazelfields for lunch was very successful where 52 people enjoyed a lovely meal of their choice with a browse around the garden centre afterwards.
Another enjoyable outing began with coffee and a snack meal prepared by the committee in the lounge, before leaving by coach for a pleasant ride through the Forest of Dean via Ross-on-Wye to see the bluebells and stopping at Taurus Crafts for tea.
There will be no meeting on the bank holiday, during that week 21 members of the club will be going to the Isle of Wight for a five day break. Later the club will be joined by some of the local school children for its annual church service, when anyone is welcome. A visit to the Royal Porcelain factory at Worcester is booked for June 23 with possibly a look around the nearby cathedral.
