THE Elgar Birthplace Museum at Lower Broadheath is hosting an exhibition about the composer's friend Sir Ivor Atkins.
Sir Ivor, who died 50 years ago, was the organist and master of the choristers at Worcester Cathedral for half a century.
"Elgar used to bounce ideas off Atkins and vice versa. There were loads of musical connections between the two and they worked together on several arrangements," said museum supervisor Christopher Bennett.
Elgar was godfather to Sir Ivor's son, Wulstan, who died earlier this month.
The exhibition, entitled The Elgar-Atkins Friendship - 50 Years On, includes vintage photographs, musical scores and other archive materials.
The exhibition is on now and runs until late September.
