DESPITE poor weather and the attraction of the FA Cup final on television, Colwall Primary School's May Fayre was a resounding success.
Organisers worked hard to prepare shelters and classrooms on Saturday morning when they heard rain was due and hundreds of people attended.
"What was particularly pleasing was that the turnout was still wonderful," said headteacher Richard Southall, who estimated that at least 500 people turned out. "An amazing number of people came and supported the school, considering the weather was dreadful."
Children in years five and six organised and ran stalls, between them raising £220.
The event was organised by the Friends of Colwall Primary School.
As well as the children's stalls, fayre-goers enjoyed a professional trapeze artist, opportunities to try out circus skills, a bouncy castle, demonstrations from Malvern Gymnastic Club, a fortune teller and a coconut shy.
Teachers also went between the posts to try and save pot shots in a goal kicking competition, and refreshments and many different stalls were laid on.
