DETAILED plans for proposed changes to roads in the Upton area were unveiled at two public exhibitions.

The two days of consultation began at Birtsmorton Court on Wednesday (May 21), when plans for raising the A4104 at Upton, a new M50 slip road at Sledge Green and improvements to the South Worcester M5 link were displayed.

A steady stream of people viewed the plans, with representatives from Worcestershire County Council, the County Highways Partnership and engineers Halcrow on hand to answer questions.

Mike Davis, for county Highways Partnership, said the view expressed had been fairly balanced.

"Most of the people I've spoken to have seen the benefits of the proposals," he said.

Robin Hulton, from Berrow, said he approved of all the proposed road improvements.

"They're doing what they ought to do," he said. "The most important one is the Worcester Southern link. That needs doing."

Sheila Golightly, of Castlemorton, said she would like more information on traffic before she expressed a view.

"We need a lot more meetings," she said.

She too said the Worcester link had to be improved as a priority.

Susan Satchell, of Castlemorton, agreed.

"It's more instructive than the previous meetings but the M50 junction is a complete waste of time," she said. "It's only a few miles down the road from junction two."

A second exhibition and public meeting was being held at Upton Memorial Hall yesterday (Thursday).
