FIRST-HAND experience of Native Americans awaits a Malvern teenager as soon as she finishes her A'Levels.
Naomi Cartwright has won an all-expenses-paid scholarship to the USA to spend time living with and learning about the Navajo Indians.
The 18-year-old will travel to the South-West USA two days after completing A'Level exams at Hanley Castle High School on June 24.
"I can't wait, I'm really excited," she said. "It's something to look forward to after I finish my exams."
During her month-long stay Naomi will learn about traditional skills, take classes in the Navajo language and culture and stay on the reserve. She will also explore the surroundings of the high desert on foot, horseback and mountain bike and raft down the San Juan River.
Naomi won the scholarship from the Exchange in International Living, based at Barnards Green, and will join students from the US and elsewhere on the trip.
