CAMPAIGNERS working to get a swimming pool built in Bromyard have drawn up a business plan to support their claims.
The Bromyard and District Swimming Pool Working Party has earmarked a site near Hardwick Close for the potential construction of a £650,000 pool.
Working party member Peter Jarman said the owners of the land were willing to give up the plot as long as they receive permission to build houses nearby.
He added that two local benefactors had come forward to help bankroll the project.
While a 1977 feasibility study found the pool would not be economically viable, the working party is stressing that the population of the area has since increased from around 3,000 to 13,000.
It believes that the pool would generate a turnover of around £720,000 in its first five years.
They have sent copies of a business plan to local sports centre managers Halo, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Herefordshire Council's head of culture, leisure and education for life, Geoff Cole.
None of the recipients would offer a judgement on the on the plans and said they would wait for more concrete developments before commenting.
The working party now hopes a planning officer from Herefordshire Council will visit the site.
