PUPILS at a Malvern school have been given an award in recognition of their life-saving skills.
All the Lower Five year group at Malvern Girls' College have been awarded the Hereford and Worcester Shield for Life Support and Life-Saving. It is the third year running that Lower Five has received the award.
As part of their PE syllabus, girls take the Royal Life-Saving Society's Life Support award for resuscitation.
Some also choose to take the Bronze Medallion water test which involves lifesaving in water, getting out of difficulty in water, helping tow people out of water and treatment for shock.
"This very important life skill is taken very seriously by the girls, and this can be seen in their examination success," said head of PE Jane Smallwood.
