THE Marlbank Scuba Diving Club, which was formed three weeks ago, has attracted a wide range of recreational divers, from novices in training to highly experienced divers.
A day trip to Swanage was planned for a couple of dives under the pier last Sunday. Seven of the club members undertook the dive despite poor weather conditions. Quite an array of underwater wildlife was seen on the first dive including giant spider crabs, large lobsters, wrasse and flounders. The average dive time was about 30 minutes for everyone.
By the afternoon, conditions had deteriorated with underwater visibility down to about two feet, but nevertheless it was still quite challenging diving.
Another diving trip is planned for a couple of weeks time.
The club meets on a fortnightly basis in a friendly, informal atmosphere, with the next meeting scheduled for Sunday (May 25) at 7.30pm at The Marlbank Inn, Welland.
The club would welcome a few more members, simply turn up to the next meeting or contact Patrick Catherall on (01684) 899020.
