EASTNOR Cricket Club will be looking for a place in the area semi-finals of the National Village Knockout Championship when they entertain Astwood Bank on Sunday.
With Colwall perishing at Chaddesley Corbett in the previous round, Eastnor carry the flag for the Reporter/Gazette area.
After Luctonians withdrew from their round one match, Eastnor enjoyed a seven-wicket victory in round two at Feckenham. Feckenham totalled 148-9 with Eastnor replying with 150-3.
Sunday's visitors Astwood Bank had a bye in the first round and easily disposed of Elmley in the following round. Astwood Bank posted a superb score of 253-4 and then proceeded to bowl out their visitors for 89.
Astwood Bank play in Division Two of the Crusader Worcestershire County League after being relegated last season and are mid-table after three games.
Eastnor captain Jim Sandford said the club had not met Astwood Bank in the Village Championship for some 20 years and, although they lost that time, this year he has his sights set on an area sem-final spot when Eastnor would again be at home.
A busy weekend faces Eastnor, who were promoted into Division One of the Crusader Worcestershire County League this season and presently sit in second spot in the league table.
Tomorrow (Saturday) Eastnor are away at Pershore and then on Bank Holiday Monday they entertain Ombersley.
