MALVERN'S Olympic cyclist Ceris Gilfillan won the ladies' event at the Worcester Triathlon Club's annual Spring Triathlon held at Malvern College on Sunday.
There was a tough course - a 400 yard pool swim, the 25km bike course was twisty and undulating and the final 5km run had a long uphill start before the long dash across the common to finish at the College transition area but there was still a record 175 finishers.
The overall winner of the race was Joshua Tompkins of Manchester Tri in a time of one hour, two minutes 17 seconds. A fantastic time when you consider he is still a junior.
Category winners in the competition were: Male Vet: Tim Heaysham, Tri Team Glos, 1.10.18.
Female Vet: Debbie Southwood, BRAT, 1.23.28.
Male Super Vet: Chris Pedley, Black Country Tri, 1.11.34.
