ANDREW Hall will get his first taste of limited-over action at New Road tomorrow when the Worcestershire Royals entertain Kent Spitfires in a National League division one clash (1pm).

The South African all-rounder's only appearances so far for the County have been in the first-class arena.

Since arriving after international duty he has played against Zimbabwe and in two Frizzell County Championship division two matches.

The all-rounder's spot in Worcestershire's previous two league games against Gloucestershire Gladiators and Surrey Lions was filled by David Leatherdale, who has since made way for Hall.

Long-serving Leatherdale, however, is included in tomorrow's squad.

With a win over Gloucestershire and a defeat against Surrey, County captain Ben Smith is keen for his side to step up their efforts to go one better than last year when they finished runners-up.

He said: "It will be good to get back into National League action as we've only played two so far. We beat Gloucestershire and then we only just missed out against Surrey.

"It will just take the focus away from four-day cricket a little bit. While it has been frustrating with the weather we are doing our best to get in top form.

"I think the league will be wide open this season. With the cricket we have missed in four-day games so far we are quite fresh and able to put out full-strength sides."

Worcestershire will go into tomorrow's match in fourth place in the table with Kent two places below them after one win and three defeats.

The Spitfires could well have former County left-arm seamer Alamgir Sheriyar in their attack.

He has yet to appear in Kent's one-day side, but is in the frame for a call-up.

Meanwhile, the County's reserve wicketkeeper James Pipe is nursing an eye injury which he sustained during net practice.
