WORCESTERSHIRE'S John Bickerton fired a fine three under par 69 to move to just six shots behind leader Darren Clarke after the second round of the Volvo PGA Championship at Wentworth.
The Droitwich Golf Club member's 69 followed a first round level par 72 and keeps him in with a good chance of another big pay day.
But there was no joy for Hereford's David Park who missed the half-way cut. He did better yesterday with a one-under-par 71, but his first day 76 left him four shots short of qualification.
Clarke is hoping he has not lost the knack of winning. He lost a three-stroke first round lead in the Masters last month and has not tasted success since the English Open at the Forest of Arden last June.
Twice a runner-up at the PGA -- once to Woosnam and once to Colin Montgomerie -- the 34-year-old not only has them chasing him hard at seven under and five under, but a whole host of other big names. Plus one whose name will not ring many bells at all.
Robert Rock, from Tamworth, was 200-1 at the start of the week, but at seven under the has the chance of his biggest ever pay day.
