KIDDERMINSTER Harriers manager Ian Britton will be looking for some 'extra' cash next season now that his playing budget has been cut.
The Aggborough directors have promised that any additional money raised during next term will be used to strengthen the hard-up Nationwide League Division Three club's squad.
And the kind of cash Britton will be seeking could come from a variety of sources, including precious money-spinning cup runs, gate receipts and extra sponsorship.
"It is everyone's responsibility, and that includes me, the players, the fans and local businesses, to make sure that happens," said Britton, whose side will be gearing up for next term with 'warm-up' matches at Aggborough against Leicester City (July 21), West Brom-wich Albion (July 25) and Walsall (July 30).
Britton hopes their trio of high profile friendlies will whet Harriers fans' appetites for the new Football League campaign which will kick off on Saturday, August 9.
He was particularly encouraged by the support at away matches last season, but is as keen as ever for home attendances to increase.
He said: "I know we'll never have the biggest turn-out of fans in this division and there's no point in continually moaning about it. We just have to keep on metaphorically fighting our way in this division and hopefully net a few more supporters in the future."
Meanwhile, Harriers will be staging a fans' forum at Aggborough on Friday, July 4. Admission will be by ticket only, costing £6 which includes a chicken and chips meal. Britton and chairman Colin Youngjohns, plus a player, will be available to answer supporters' questions.
