I THINK Robert Mann (You Say, Tuesday, May 20) is missing the point.
It's all right for him to say people can just visit the local tax office and their problems would have been resolved.
The problem I and many others faced was we didn't know where to turn when we couldn't get through to the tax credit helpline.
At the start of April, I phoned the Worcester Inland Revenue office and was told that, although it was nothing to do with them, it was their understanding that the money would be paid in to my account within days.
They referred me back to the helpline, which was constantly engaged!
It wasn't until I read an article in the Evening News that I found out that the Worcester enquiry centre was making these emergency payments.
It would have been far easier for the Government to issue some kind of public service announcement telling us this.
As for the Worcester office being overstretched. Well, Robert Mann should try bringing up three children on £120 a week!
