OLD foes Carl Heeley and Rob Elmes will renew rivalries in Worcester City's game at Moor Green tomorrow (3pm).
The two veterans have locked horns several times down the years and City's captain is preparing himself for another bruising encounter with the ex-Hereford United, Bromsgrove Rovers and Halesowen Town stalwart.
For John Barton's team tomorrow's match is a chance to shrug off the disappointment of last week's Dover defeat and chalk up three valuable points before breaking for FA Trophy action next week.
The Moors can lay claim to being dubbed the Dr Martens Premier Division's draw specialists with last weekend's victory at Halesowen bringing to an end a sequence of six successive draws.
Jae Martin scored the goal to beat the Yeltz but with John Gayle injured Elmes will also be a threat according to Heeley.
"Rob Elmes is in a similar mould to John Gayle - a big strong leader of the line and dangerous on crosses," he said.
"I've played against him many times when he's played defence and midfield but he's been playing up front in recent years and has played in the Conference so he's no mug."
City won 4-0 when the two sides met at St George's Lane back in September, but Heeley added: "Moor Green have improved dramatically from the start of the season and certainly don't seem to get beaten very often.
"They have got some good players. Jai Stanley is very well-rated by ourselves, Rob Elmes has been around a long time and Nathan Lamey always scores goals so they've got players in all departments.
"The local aspect also comes into play again and there is always a lot of rivalry between the two clubs. We always take a great deal of pleasure in beating them and likewise for them so I'm sure it is going to be a tough game."
Heeley remains upbeat about City's league chances but admits last week's 1-0 home defeat against Dover hurt.
"Credit to Dover, they were well organised but we were disappointed in the manner in which we lost the game," he added.
"We put some pressure on them after they got the goal but didn't threaten enough and all the lads were bitterly upset with our performance.
"If you listen to people this week there seems to be a lot of despondency and defeatism around but the Dover result has to be put in context.
"We are in exactly the same position we were before we beat Tamworth and we didn't give up then and we are not going to now.
"There's a long way to go and though it all changed last week it can easily change again this week."
City's reserves entertain Redditch United tomorrow (2.45) in the Midland Combination.
FORMCAST: City to return to winning ways 1-0.
