VISITORS to Avoncroft museum, near Bromsgrove, were transported back more than 60 years when a re-enactment group put on a Fabulous Forties fun event over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Eye on the Past group set up a fully- furnished 1946 prefab house, showing life after the Second World War.
Under expert guidance, visitors were given the opportunity to make toys of the time, learn new songs and party games, and even take a seat in one of the many vintage vehicles on display.
SHOOTING a bow and arrow and taking part in close- combat sword fighting was the unusual way in which more than 800 people chose to spend their Bank Holiday weekend.
Scores of visitors descended on the Worcestershire County Museum, Hartlebury, for a taste of mediaeval living.
The museum invited the Sir William Gascoigne Fellowship to show people what life was like in the 15th Century.
Among the events on show were cooking, candle dipping, brewing and music lessons with traditional instruments.
The museum has decided to continue the mediaeval theme throughout the week, with many of the displays running until Friday.
