THE Worcestershire Member of the European Parliament will this week officially launch a new ecologically-friendly scheme run by a charity that works with disabled people.
Liz Lynne will open Worcestershire Lifestyle's LIFEtech Project on Friday, which will recycle the raw materials from unwanted computers and re-use them to build new machines.
Part of the aim will be that disabled people will from an essential part of the operation working under the supervision of qualified technicians.
It is hoped more than 1,000 computers will be saved from the landfill sites sold on to support people in need in Worcestershire at a significantly lower cost.
Worcestershire Lifestyle, based at Woodside Lodge, Lark Hill Road in Worcester, is also running a range of computer courses for adults with disabilities.
Anyone who would like information about the project or the training course should call 01905 456435.
