WORCESTER City midfielder John Snape today revealed the full horror of the tackle that has sidelined him for a month.
The St George's Lane favourite was left writhing in agony after a challenge by ex-Leicester City captain Steve Walsh in Saturday's 2-1 win at Tamworth.
Snape revealed Walsh's studs were actually embedded in his leg after the two players collided in a challenge for the ball.
He was left needing stitches in a nasty shin gash and also suffered medial ligament damage -- the full extent of the knee injury will be revealed when the swelling goes down.
"He caught me on the shin and his studs were actually sticking in," said Snape.
"He was just trying to get them out and get away, and to be fair I think that's when I did my ligaments."
The Lamb ground has proved an unlucky venue for City players in the recent past with Andy Ellis breaking his leg there while Danny McDonnell got both stretchered and sent off on his Worcester debut.
However Snape, who has dished out a few crunching tackles of his own, will not contemplate holding a grudge against Walsh.
"I don't hold grudges I think there's enough between the two clubs already," said Snape.
"Somebody said Andy Ellis had been injured there and Danny McDonnell too, so they seem to be a regular occurrence, but I'm just disappointed to be out injured, especially with the Trophy match coming up."
City go into Saturday's FA Trophy clash with Newport County buoyed by the Lambs win -- a victory forged by team spirit according to Snape.
"The lads responded brilliantly after my substitution because I think we could have been two or three down but Danny has played really well again and at the end of the day we took our chances," he said.
"It was a big game -- not a must win game but certainly one we couldn't lose and I was proud of the lads."
Snape also paid tribute to the 500 City fans that made the trip to Tamworth.
"I don't know where they all came from but they were fantastic," he added.
Snape's injury means manager John Barton will once again be forced to dip into the transfer market. He has two targets but negotiations are at an early stage.
